Steering system repair
A sharp response to every steering input
The steering system governs precision and safety. We remove play and knocks – racks, rods, ends and power steering – restoring a sharp wheel response.
Why your car needs it

Even slight steering play adds fractions of a second to the car's reaction – critical in emergencies.

Worn steering parts speed up suspension wear and lead to early tyre replacement.

Unstable steering gets worse at speed and during manoeuvres.

Book now →Most often it's a fault in the power-steering pump or a low level of power-steering fluid; on cars with electric power steering (EPS), the problem lies in the steering electric motor itself or the torque sensor.
This is a classic sign of a worn power-steering pump or a low fluid level. We check it separately from any play in the steering – the cause is different.
Hydraulic power steering is a pump, fluid and hoses – a classic mechanical unit. EPS is an electric motor and a control unit, and its repair often comes down to sensor diagnostics rather than mechanics, and it requires a dealer protocol to clear the fault codes.
In some cases yes – replacing the seals or tie-rod ends without replacing the whole rack. The estimate shows both options with the difference in price and service life.
The warranty covers the replaced parts (rack, pump, tie-rod ends) and the installation work. A repeat visit with the same symptom within the warranty period is logged by the system automatically.
Because these components work together – a new bit of play or vibration after suspension repair sometimes turns out to be in the steering itself, not in the parts that were just replaced. Checking right away rules out any confusion about where the problem really comes from.
Steering system repair – the RemZone workshop
The steering mechanism is safely one of the key elements in any vehicle. Together with the brakes it is responsible for safe driving, and the condition of its components determines how light, comfortable and precise the car is to steer.
As with any system, it eventually wears out. Steering is no exception. Bad weather and poor road surfaces (potholes, uneven paving) often speed up that wear. When the steering is faulty, driving the car becomes dangerous, and steering rack repair is needed. In Warsaw that is no problem – there are plenty of workshops ready to help. Our RemZone workshop offers to carry out the work quickly and at an affordable price.
Which faults occur most often?
Before looking at the faults themselves, it helps to know the symptoms that need catching in time.
Signs that the rack needs reconditioning include: the steering becoming noticeably heavier or rattling, frequently binding, noticeable play, squeaking or knocking, fluid leaking, or moisture on the working components.
On cars with electric racks, a fault may be indicated by warning lights on the dashboard. Replacing the steering rack in good time will save you from more serious problems, so contact a workshop as soon as any sign of a fault appears.
The repair method depends on the type of failure and which parts have gone. These components fail most often:
- Boots, seals and gaskets – they often lose their seal in service.
- The rack shaft. This component corrodes more than most.
- The electronics fail when moisture gets into the electrical systems.
- The power steering pump.
Any repair or reconditioning of a steering rack begins with diagnostics. RemZone specialists check the control unit for fault codes and then carry out a detailed visual inspection of the mechanism. The unit is then removed and tested on a rig. Depending on the severity of the damage and which components need replacing, we offer two options: reconditioning using replacement parts and repair kits, or a complete rack replacement, which is very reasonably priced at our workshop.
Our technicians guarantee every type of work. At our Warsaw workshop you can book: replacement of track rod ends, the power steering unit and its pump, track rods and boots.
Stages of steering rack reconditioning at RemZone
Our workshop has years of experience repairing steering mechanisms of every type. We work on both commercial and passenger vehicles: mechanical, hydraulic, electric and electro-hydraulic systems.
The work involves the following stages:
- Diagnosis – checking the general condition of the steering system and identifying play, leaks and knocking. The causes of the fault are established (worn seals, a damaged housing, worn bushes and so on).
- Removal – taking the unit off the car. Partial disassembly of the suspension is sometimes required at this stage.
- Disassembly – the rack is stripped into its component parts.
- Cleaning and inspection – every part is thoroughly washed free of dirt and grease and corrosion is removed. Shafts, gears, the toothed rack and bushes are inspected for wear.
- Replacement of damaged parts. Seals, bushes, bearings and rubber components are replaced.
- Reassembly – everything is rebuilt with new seals and grease. Close attention is paid to sealing.
- Rig testing. The mechanism is tested for leaks, even steering effort and the absence of knocking or play.
- Refitting to the car, followed by wheel alignment.
- A final check of the steering operation.
The whole job takes between 1 and 3 days. Prices and turnaround at our workshop in Warsaw, Poland can vary with the complexity of the work and whether extra parts have to be ordered. The cost is calculated individually and agreed with the customer.
