In most cases it's worth replacing the dual-mass flywheel along with the clutch – if you replace only the disc and pressure plate, a worn flywheel quickly "eats up" the new clutch. The estimate always shows both options with an explanation of the difference.
It's not a single clutch but two packs of friction plates running in an oil bath – the repair is more complex and requires special equipment for calibration after replacement, so we only carry it out when we have the dealer protocol for the specific make.

How do you know there is a problem?

Wear is usually caused by oil contamination of the friction surfaces, damage or wear to the disc linings, loose mounting supports, deformed springs, or damage to the hydraulic or mechanical linkage.
What does the diagnosis and replacement involve?

At this stage the technician checks pedal travel and effort, any binding, the condition of the release bearing, whether the clutch slips, the master and slave cylinders (on hydraulic systems), the condition of the cable, and any signs of overheating, oil contamination or lining wear.
Once the problems are identified, the repair begins. The gearbox is removed and inspected, worn components are replaced, and everything is reassembled and set up.
