Sometimes problems appear sooner. If you notice the fluid level dropping, the pads squealing or the stopping distance getting longer, come to the workshop straight away rather than putting the repair off.

What causes brake faults?
Brakes should be checked at least once a year, though a brake system inspection may be needed sooner. Wear and the rate of failure are influenced by aggressive driving and heavy city traffic, the general condition of the car and the quality of the parts fitted.
Stages of the repair at RemZone
Restoring the brake system at our Warsaw workshop can involve anything from preventive work to a full overhaul.
First comes diagnosis: the level and condition of the fluid are checked, hoses, pipes and unions are inspected for cracks and corrosion, pad and disc thickness is measured, and the calipers, cylinders and brake servo are checked.
The repair then follows, based on the faults found. It usually involves replacing consumables (pads, discs, hoses) and the brake fluid. Repair and servicing also cover overhauling or replacing calipers and cylinders and eliminating squeal and binding throughout the mechanism. The system is bled to remove excess air, and leaks are located and fixed. Additional work is sometimes required: adjusting the parking brake, checking and replacing the brake servo or the ABS sensors.

Based on our experience, a few jobs are ordered most often: repair and replacement of brake discs, pads and hoses. Let us look at those in more detail.
Discs are replaced when they are worn or have been damaged in service. The job runs in several stages: diagnosis, removing the wheel, taking off the old discs and fitting new ones, and checking operation. It is a quick and straightforward procedure, especially in professional hands – our technicians usually spend no more than two hours on it.
Replacing brake pads requires the following: undo all the wheel nuts, remove the wheel, take out the worn assembly, fit the new one and refit the wheel. Once the pads are changed, a test drive is carried out.
Replacing a brake hose is important work. If this component is damaged, fluid delivery is disrupted and braking is significantly impaired. Hoses are replaced quickly: the hose is disconnected, the fluid drained and the part checked for damage. If the damage is serious, the hose is best replaced.
