Alternator repair

The main stages of the repair at RemZone:

• The repair work, which may include replacing the brushes and the slip rings. The bearing is checked and replaced, since bearing failure is a common source of odd noise and vibration. The work may also cover repairing or replacing the voltage regulator and cleaning and testing the diodes (which must be clean and working correctly).
• Reassembly and refitting. Once every damaged component has been replaced, the alternator is rebuilt in reverse order.
• Checking the system. After refitting, a test drive is carried out to confirm the charging works and there are no remaining problems.
